The Scottish Government is working on a successor to the Food Processing Marketing and Co-operation (FPMC) grant scheme which is due to launch on 1st January 2015 as part of the new Scotland Rural Development Programme. However the government is currently considering whether applications for FPMC support can be accepted earlier than the launch date so now is the time to begin preparing bid applications to ensure you don’t miss out.

There are a number of ways ACE Refrigeration can help you access finance and grants to buy more modern equipment which could eventually pay for its self through energy savings:

  • R22 Replacement – After 31st December 2014, recycled and/or reclaimed R22 gas will finally be banned. Yet this could be an opportunity to save money in the long-run by replacing your R22 equipment with a new system which is compatible with modern refrigerants. The largest benefit here would be a significant reduction in energy consumption from the use of modern equipment as well as reduced maintenance costs and an increased service life over a refrigerant conversion, protecting you from increased breakdowns and potential impact on product quality or stock loss.
  • Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme – the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme has a list of products on its Energy Technology Product List (ETPL) which have been measured for their energy efficiency. If a business invests in new equipment from this list then it could claim an Enhanced Capital Allowance, giving a one-off 100 percent tax relief in the year the investment is made.
  • Carbon Trust Loan – this government lead initiative offers unsecured business loans at reduced interest rates to finance and invest in energy saving projects.
