Key Project
ACE Refrigeration completed a contract to supply energy saving refrigeration equipment for a new factory extension of the Dingwall-based salmon processor, Edinburgh Salmon Company (ESCo) in June 2012. The expansion was necessary to cope with an increased demand for its smoked, cooked and fresh salmon and trout. Supplying a wide customer base throughout the UK and Europe, the company has a turnover in excess of £30 million while employing around 300 staff, making it a substantial employer in the area.
Energy Efficient
ACE was awarded the contract for the 1750 metre² extension thanks to its RACE Energy Saving System which saves up to 25% on traditional refrigeration applications. The RACE Energy Saving System allows the effective energy management of the entire system, and also helps to increase the control and reporting capabilities for the end user in an easy to use way – giving staff increased control.
Indemnified Design
ACE Refrigeration used custom-manufactured equipment to suit the bespoke requirements of Edinburgh Salmon Company such as specially manufactured Multi-Compressor Packs – by using packs with multiple compressors the cooling requirements for all rooms are combined which results in a greatly reduced power input.
Temperature Monitoring System
All controls were networked via an IP control system to a central temperature monitoring system. This management system ensures that all aspects of the project are monitored on a continual basis.
Free Hot Water
In addition to the newly installed refrigeration element of the project, the site now includes a brazed plate heat exchanger which takes the heat that the refrigeration system extracts out of the air and reuses it to heat water, giving Edinburgh Salmon Company free hot water to wash down their production areas, crucial in a fish processing plant.
